Canon Camera – Always Packed With the Latest Features

Canon needs no introduction in the world of cameras. Whenever you pronounce the word camera, immediately the name ‘Canon’ jumps to your mind. Canon cameras have a long and successful history and they were always packed with latest features. Cameras have evolved a lot in the past century and with the advent of the 21st century the pixel cameras have changed the scenario of photography. The introduction of digital cameras marked the end of the ordinary cameras. It would be wrong to say that the old models of cameras are not in use anymore; the professional photographers still use them. But a layman or an amateur photographer finds the digital cameras too easy to handle. So the digital cameras are in vogue now.

Canon camera is a common household name because you can choose from a whole wide range. The latest technology that they have brought in the market is the SLR feature in the digital camera. The full form of SLR is single lens reflex. It provides automatic focus for the convenience of the user. The user doesn’t even need to adjust the lens. Once again it is automatically adjusted. Zooming features are also incorporated in these cameras. So it is very user friendly.

Now let us traverse the world of film cameras. These cameras, as the name suggests, are used to shoot the feature films, and documentaries. You cannot beat Canon in this genre of cameras also. In a Canon camera used for shooting, an important feature is incorporated. It is called EOS (Electro-Optical System). This system has been used in various types of lens. The lens varies from 14 mm to 300 mm. Each lens can be adjusted to more than one mm according to the focus. The focus of a camera depends on the distance of the subject or subjects. Electrical devices built inside the camera controls the lens motor, the aperture and the focus so the user need not worry about them.

EOS cameras also come with SLR facilities. So the lovers of photography can use these cameras to photograph wildlife or nature with their eyes closed. These cameras can be used at all places and in all sorts of condition. They can be used at any time of the day conveniently. Canon camera comes in a huge array of colors, shapes and designs. They are large or sleek. You can choose to have the classic black color camera for your personal use; or you can choose from a set of vibrant colors. Shoot still photos or make your home video with the video recording facility in your SLR camera. Fulfill your dream as a film-maker with the Canon EOS camera.

Canon Camera FAQ:

Question: How can I make my canon camera takes pictures faster?
Even though I’ve already googled it and all, I’m looking for someone who has the same camera as me so I can change the right settings- I have a canon powershot SD990 IS. I usually use it on auto mode, if that helps. Any tips would be appreciated!

Answer: Do you mean the time between pressing the shutter button and actual picture is taken?

Well, most p&s cameras suffer from the extended shutter lag (that’s the term for this), and yours is no exception. But there’s something you can do to make it a little better for catching the moment! What you need is to pre-focus and anticipate the shot, and then take it when all things are right.

To do that – point your camera to where you expect action to take place and half-press the shutter button. The camera should focus and prepare for the shot, then give you a beep (or two, depends on model). Don’t let the button go, keep it half pressed until the right moment, then take a shot by pressing it all the way down.

You’ll find that the picture will be taken much faster, because the longest thing that happens when you press the button all the way down, is focusing. The p&s cameras use a very slow focusing mechanism, but there’s little you can do about it, that’s the kind of technology they use. But having focusing out of the way, you’ll have much better chance to capture the action!

Question: Does it matter if you use a canon lens on a sony camera?
Or a Minolta lens on a canon camera visa-verca? I use a minolta lens on my sony camera.

Answer: Yes it matters since Sony and Canon use different lens mounts. In other words, you can’t use a Canon lens on your Sony unless you can find an adapter – which doesn’t exist.

The reason you can use your Minolta lens on your Sony is because they have the same lens mount.

Question: I am thinking about getting a canon DSLR camera any suggestions?
So I am into photography and in a couple classes and I finally feel ready to get a DSLR camera. I was thinking of getting a canon but I am open to nikon too, I also would like video with it which would make my price range pretty expensive. The highest I would spend would be 1300, I am not looking for the “best” and most “professional” camera just one that is good quality and an overall good camera. So any suggestions?

Answer: What 35 mm camera system to you have now? Adding a DSLR to your existing system is the best way to go. Here are the two most popular advanced DSLR’s at this time: The Nikon D90 and Canon 50D.

Question: How much time and money usually take to repair a Canon Camera from manufactures?
I’m probably sending in my canon sx110 to get repaired and I would like to know how long and how much will it probably take to get it fixed. The lens is broken.

Answer: Time depends on their workload and parts availability. Took about 2 weeks for Sony to repair my camera. Mine was under a recall so it cost nothing.

Looking at the current price of your camera around $230-$250 its borderline if you should repair it. No repair is inexpensive. Its going to be likely near the cost of a new one and maybe even more. If it’s not under warranty I would get an estimate on the cost to repair the camera. If it’s anywhere near the cost of purchasing a new one I would consider just purchasing a new camera.

Question: In a canon digital camera is there a way to make it take pictures at a lower resolution to save card space?
On my old camera there is a way to make it take pictures at a smaller megapixel size so the images are smaller and take up less space on the memory card. Is there a way I can do that on my canon powershot d10?

Answer: On that camera you can go all the way down to 1600×1200 resolution. Set it there and you’ll fit millions onto the card. But why on Earth would you want to do that? Just doesn’t make sense. Why pay top dollar for a 12MPixel camera to use one or two megapixels? Just buy another SD card. They’re almost free nowadays.

Question: High quality adjustable canon camera lens?
Ok I’m gonna be getting an Eos 50d and I need a very good adjustable lens. Any ideas?

Answer: Canon makes about 60 lenses, although only about 25 of them are zoom (adjustable focal length, I assume that is what you are asking about). There are very long, very short, and very in-between lenses to choose from. Without any idea of what you intend to shoot, and even more importantly your budget, there is no way to really help you.

Question: Can anyone recommend a good camera case for a Canon PowerShot SD1200?
Today I just bought a Canon PowerShot camera and I would like to buy a case for it, does anyone know where I can buy one?

Answer: I have the same camera! Purchased it at Walmart, so I also bought a case there. Ask the person behind the camera counter what kind of case they would recommend for you. They have a large selection, I’m sure you’d be able to find one that is the same color as your camera.

Question: Bought a battery grip for my Canon 7D camera from Hong Kong do I have anything to fear?
I am worried it might invalidate the warranty or even damage my camera’s software? I bought it from ‘one stop digital’. Let me know your thoughts guys. First time buying from Hong Kong.

Answer: Depending on who is delivering it, you may get stung for import duty, freight import VAT, and brokerage surcharges. If you don’t, then you are lucky.

If the grip is made by Canon, it will be no different from one you would buy at your local camera store. What will be different is the warranty service if needed can only be performed by Canon’s International Camera Repair Site. Such a grip is considered to be “gray market” and thus is not covered the USA Canon warranty.

If the grip is a generic grip, it may or may not void your warranty if you use it and there are any problems with your camera as a result.

It is curious to me that you would spend top dollar on a fine Canon camera like the 7D and then go cheap on any of its accessories. That is sort of like using recycled oil in your Bentley.

Minolta – A Reputable Company That Offers High Quality Cameras at Affordable Prices

Minolta was a very reputed international company that primarily manufactured cameras of various types. It was a Japanese multinational and produced a range of optical products. The first known integrated auto focus was made by it, the 35 mm jewel in photography, the SLR camera. The name of its first brand of camera was ‘Nifcalette’. Japan’s first reflex camera that had a twin lens was manufactured by this company in the year of 1937. The company in its initial years mainly focused on importing the German technology that helped a great deal in making world class cameras which the world reminisces even so many years after the inception of its premier models many decades ago.

Cameras from the house of Minolta were used in space missions too, especially during the project of Apollo 8 in the year 1968. They were of extreme high quality with superior features and automatic focus. Often people struggle in manually setting the focus while taking photographs. But the vintage cameras from this company had provisions for making a focus in an automated manner, taking into account the lighting, the environment, and of course the subject and the angle. The aged people talk about their favorite cameras of this wonderful company even today.

If you are interested in buying such a camera at the present times, you will be disappointed by its non-availability in major shops. The best thing is to rigorously explore the second hand market for cameras and especially electronic gadgets. You have to do a bit of research in going to the different shops and asking people around in regard to good sellers dealing in old cameras. Once you are able to pin point a shop you can ask for varied ranges of Minolta cameras that were extremely popular many years ago. Although the company last produced its camera just about 3 years back, but most of its popular products originated in the sixties and the seventies, or even in the fifties, when it concentrated in manufacturing cameras only. In the eighties it broadened its platform and stressed on manufacturing other optical products.

You have guessed it right; the camera with this brand is pricey because it is a vintage optical product. Don’t forget to properly test its every detail before making a bargain. The seller may try to dupe you knowing people with genuine weakness for this brand would come to his shop.

The design of the Minolta cameras is predominantly conventional with the usual finishing. When you will buy one, you will understand in a better way how it feels to be owner of such a splendid camera.

Minolta FAQ:

Question: How to turn a minolta film camera on?
My grandparents just gave me a minolta 35 mm camera. I’ve loaded it with film, but it won’t wind, and it says “off” right beside the shutter speed dial. How do i turn it on? I just put new watch batteries in it. Is there a button to press? What am I missing here?

Answer: What is the model of your Minolta 35mm camera? You should be able to advance the film without turning it on. The batteries are just for the meter and shutter operation. Turn it on, try activating the shutter button and then advancing. If the shutter does not actuate then you have a problem or the battery is low/wrong kind. You should at least see red LED lights in the viewfinder when the camera is on and you press the shutter button.

Question: Can you use Minolta camera lens on any other camera with an adapter?
I had a minolta X-g1 camera, which was destroyed, and I several different lenses. Can I use these lenses with any other camera?

Answer: You can buy adapters to use your MC/MD mount Minolta lenses on the Olympus DSLR cameras, the Canon DSLR cameras and of course the Sony DSLR cameras. Please note that you’ll have to use stop-down metering as there is no meter coupling/connection between the MC/MD lenses and the modern DSLR bodies listed.

Question: How do I get the film out of a minolta maxxum 430si rz?
I recently got a minolta maxxum to borrow from a friend and I used the last of the film and it won’t auto rewind. How do I get the film out?

Answer: There are three steps. First find the round indent on the bottom of the camera with a round release in the center, you push it in. Do not open the back yet. Look at the rewind knob, see the arrow, only go in that direction or you will unscrew the top. Go slow until you feel the pressure go very light, often with a bit of a pop like noise as the film lets go of the take up spool. Then, wind a few more times just to make sure the film is back in the film can. Then and only then do you open the back of the camera.

If you are unsure take it to an one hour film developer, which has people who use film cameras, to do it for you.

Question: What kind of battery should I buy for my old Minolta that used Mercury ones?
I have a 1969 Minolta Super Circuit 3 Hi-matic 11. It uses a small Mercury batter, and I want to make sure I have the right replacement. Originally it used one of these batteries: 1.35v mercury battery (Mallory PX-625, PX-12, Eveready EPX-625, or EPX-13).

Answer: The WEIN MRB625 battery is the one you want. It replaces the PX625 & PX13. Its the correct voltage – 1.35V. I use one in my Minolta SRT-202. Just remember that a Zinc-Air battery doesn’t have the life expectancy of the older mercury battery so keep a spare handy.

Question: Will old konica minolta external flashes work on sony digital slrs?
I have recently purchased a Sony A 200 digital slr camera and was wondering if I must purchase a new Sony external flash or can I use an older konica minolta flash? Or for that matter can I use a different brand external flash?

Answer: Maybe. As you know, Minolta had a proprietary shot shoe configuration which was adapted by Sony. Call the Sony help line 800.222.SONY and ask about your specific flash unit.

Question: What Minolta film camera is better?
I have two choices for which film camera to use for my black and white intro to photo class. Both are Minolta 35mm SLRs, one is the XG-1 and the other X-700. Which one is better? I think they both work.

Answer: The cameras are similar, though the X-700 had more features and a more robust build. The XG-1 had issues with the electronics, but if its working its unlikely to die during your class. If given the choice between those two, I’d have to go with the X-700 which has a better service record. Either one will produce wonderful pictures.

Question: I loaded film in my Minolta camera, and now the shutter curtain is off. What do I do?
I figured out how to load film in my Minolta, but now it won’t take pictures. I took the film out, and the black fabric curtain behind the lens has a plastic line down it. I’m wondering if this may be the problem. It looks like where the fabric is seamed together. I’m not sure what to do.

Answer: Your shutter sounds normal, those lines control the width of the slit of light at shutter speeds above 1/60th (flash synch speed). I take it you are using an x-300 or something similar. Check if you have wound on properly (there should be a safe load check on the frame counter – you need to wind the spool on a couple of frames during loading). If this doesn’t help and the batteries are good then it sounds like the capacitor near the battery has failed. This was a common problem. Not economic to fix.

Question: Will a lens I have for my Minolta 35mm fit the minolta digital cameras?
I purchased a Minolta 35 mm about 5 yrs back and paid a lot for a zoom lens for it. I heard if I get Minolta digital camera I can use this extra zoom lens on it too? Is this correct? Also how could I check to see if the lens would be interchangable with other brands?

Answer: If you bought a Minolta Maxxum AF 35mm camera then your lenses for it will work just fine on the current Sony A230, 330, 380, 500, 550, 700, 850 and 900 series DSLR cameras. You’ll have auto focus and metering.

If you bought an older manual focus Minolta 35mm camera then there is no current DSLR that you can use the lenses with unless you buy an adapter.

All camera manufacturers use a proprietary lens mount. The only way to use a lens from one manufacturer on a body from a different manufacturer is with an adapter. Of course no functions – auto focus or metering – will be supported.

Pentax – Among the Top in the Industry

It was my grandfather’s favorite brand when the mater concerned about cameras. Even my father likes it. As for myself, I am really fond of it; I am speaking about – Pentax. An international brand of high performing imaging and optical products and services, this company has beautifully managed to impress its customers, generation after generation. The range of the products, their designs and color patterns, the hoard of features and related facilities altogether make its products highly priced possessions and the owners feel proud about them. Over the years it has nicely diversified its business and currently going strong in different avenues.

In the year 1952, the first SLR camera in Japan was released by this company. That was really a path-breaking innovation that established it as a premier brand in the field of photography and paved its way into more complex models with added features.

Pentax has got clear vision when targeting the different sections of the consumers. It has got two broad bases of customers that it always aims to maintain and continuously expand. The first one constitutes professional photographers and the second one constitutes amateurish and novice photographers. The cameras with heavy features and complex settings are mainly for the professional photographers who generally shoot commercial and public offices. The cameras with less features but good styles and convenience, tailor made to be used casually are for those photographers who are amateur and simply want to nurture this wonderful activity. Due to obvious reasons, the price of the cameras for the professional photographers is more, and that for the novices is less.

The company has full-fledged existence in three continents – Asia, Europe and North America. The business expands in different nations in these continents and the consumers are happy with the quality of services and products provided by it.

Like any other cameras, the cameras from the house of Pentax too need good care and careful handling in order to maintain their quality and high performance. Casual handling, using it in dusty surrounding and not cleaning it on a regular basis, and going for routine servicing of the set are few major factors that make the camera under- perform.

You must always go the reputed shops that deal in genuine photography devices in order to purchase these cameras. Don’t forget to test every possible feature of the set. In that way, you ensure yourself of not being foxed by being sold poor quality material. The Pentax cameras have the capacity to take absolutely stunning photographs of any subject at any given angle and in any environmental condition.

More information on Pentax cameras can be found on my website at http://pentaxdigitalcameras.org. I strongly suggest that you check it out if you are looking for Pentax digital cameras.

Pentax Camera FAQ:

Question: Where can I get the battery changed for my asahi pentax k1000 camera…ie the light meter?
The light meter isn’t working and I can’t find a place to change it for me. I know it needs a LR44 battery but ritz camera and radio shack were no help.

Answer: LR44 is very common. Check hardware shops, photo shops, drugstores and watch repair shops. You can change it yourself. All you need is a small coin to open the hatch at the bottom of the camera. Take note of the battery orientation before you pull the old ones out.

Question: Does anyone know if some one made a conversion kit for a Pentax film SLR to a digital camera?
I hate to abandon my Pentax film camera, it’s a Super program SLR. I wandered if a replacement CCD back kit to convert it to the digital age.

Answer: No. Leica tried that about four years ago. The back cost more than a DSLR camera, so after a couple of years, Leica dropped that product.

Just buy a good Pentax DSLR and use the lenses you have on both. I still have 3, 35 mm SLR’s which I use from time to time.

Question: How do you set the aperture on a pentax 35mm film camera when using a Tamron lens?
It’s a Pentax ZX-M and the lens is a Tamron 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6. I don’t know how to set the aperture. I’m trying to do shallow DOF and great DOF, but when I set the aperture and move the zoom, the aperture changes.

Answer: Your question should actually be “how do you MAINTAIN the aperture you have set”. The answer is you can’t. Look at the specs on your lens. When an aperture is stated as 3.5 – 5.6, that means it is not a constant aperture lens. Those specs mean the minimum aperture will change to those values as you zoom the lens. At it’s widest angle, the aperture can be set to 3.5, but if you zoom it out, it WILL by design change to 5.6. You can, however, set an aperture of any number higher than 5.6, and it will maintain it throughout the zoom range.

A zoom lens that does NOT change aperture is known as a CONSTANT APERTURE lens. It would state an aperture spec of for instance 2.8, and if you set it there, it will maintain it throughout the range. These lenses are MUCH larger, MUCH heavier, and MUCH more expensive.

There is nothing wrong with your camera, lens, or you, it is simply the normal design of the lens.

Question: Which is the best Pentax camera?
I’m looking to get a good Pentax DSLR camera. I go camping alot so I need one that is durable and since I don’t have a power source it needs to be able to use AA batteries. I want fast shutter speed and pretty good picture quality. If there is any other type of camera list that as well.

Answer: I would recommend the Pentax K-x for around $550. Its shutter speed can go up to 1/6000 seconds and it uses four AA batteries. I know someone who’s had this camera and I can tell they’re really pleased with it. Also, it’s weather sealed and you can use any K-mount lens made since 1975 on it. Of course there will be some limitations with the older manual focus lenses but you can use them. Please understand that weather sealed does not mean you can take the K-x swimming. Plus, you can get it in Red, White or Black.

Question: On a pentax 35mm film camera, when you set your aperture is it supposed to show the correct aperture when you go to check the light meter?
I have a ZX-M model.

Answer: It’s on the right when you look through the viewfinder, second set of numbers from the top (if not, change your batteries). You can look it up on page eight in the manual.

Question: What is a good value of money Pentax Wide Angle lens?
Just looking for a good lens for my new pentax camera, preferably a wide angle lens, but I’m not really sure where to start looking as there are so many options!

Answer: Look on ebay for an older K mount lens, or a WA lens that has a m42 screw mount, as m42-k mount adaptors are cheap.

Question: I have a pentax mz50 slr film camera. Is there any way to transfer my photos onto my pc?
It’s a great camera and I have taken some pictures that I wish to load onto my PC. The camera is one of the old school cameras that uses film. Is there a way to transfer copies of some of my pics to my pc so that I can send them friends. Some advice would be greatly appreciated.

Answer: You’ll need to use a scanner to scan your pictures. If you have one (and you have a Windows PC) you can scan them with the built in Paint program. (Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint) Open Paint and click ‘File’ and choose, ‘Camera or Scanner’ for each of your photos. After Scanning, choose: ‘File’ then select ‘Save’ (Choose a Name for your photo) and save it to your: ‘Pictures’ folder.

All of your pictures will be saved as a .jpeg file. You can then share them as you like. A scanner for just photos can be purchased or you can purchase an all in one printer.

Question: Does anyone know anything about old Pentax cameras?
I have an old Pentax camera, given to me by my mother. It’s around 20 years old. I’m looking to getting into photography, but my mother said I should find out if I really like photography by using an old camera before she’ll help me out buying a new one. So I’m stuck with this old one… It’s a Pentax IQZoom 900. I tried googling it, but found nothing. Maybe I’m not looking hard enough, but it’d be great if someone could help me out. I don’t know much about cameras, which is why my mother gave me this old one. Does anyone know anything about old Pentax cameras or how to use them?

Answer: This is the 35 mm version of a P&S camera which do not allow the user any real control over the exposure.

If you really want to get “into” photography, look into buying a nice used 35 mm SLR and standard lens, about $150 on craigslist in a city near you.

That said, you can learn how to compose using this camera, so when you do buy a 35 mm SLR camera later, you will be able to concentrate on learning how to produce perfect exposures every time you press the shutter release.

The Reasons Why Everybody Should Own a Waterproof Digital Camera

Since the birth of digital camera man has advanced this know-how to allow every person to have one easily. The impermeable Camera is currently one of those things simply just like the wrist watch could be a necessity for someone living close to water.

More and more experts are buying these waterproof digital cameras to capture a world in that new discoveries are created everyday. In the past not so long ago these spectacles of recent design was so massive and heavy that it required extraordinary care to move them from place to place. Currently thanks to knowledge our engineers will build new Watertight Digital Camera with smaller parts to accommodate the electronics. In time the only thing that will stick out and be an eyesore would be the quality water proof lens used to capture the underwater world.

Everybody ought to own a Waterproof Camera not for showing off but solely to seize what your eyes see. Every camper who also goes camping in the hills nearby a running river or to the ocean out on a ship positively needs to own a waterproof digital camera. It is not only bad not to have one but silly if you have left home without one.

The opportunist always incorporates a recording medium to secure those moments for eternity and what better approach than with a waterproof digital camera digital. These marvels do not have to be high-priced. As a matter of fact they are not much more different then those that do not seem to be waterproof digital cameras. The prices of water-resistant cameras has come back down due to rivalry and purchaser purchase power.

Many folks are owning a unit or 2 now. Some of these beauties come with ten mega pixel capability and over. As I said they are almost the same value range as those that are not waterproof digital video camera. Most brands are of equal par since the technology advances at about the even rate for all manufacturers. My preference camera brand is the Olympus since they do have standardization in their expertise. But other brands have also nice waterproof digital cameras.

Waterproof Camera FAQ:

Question: What is the latest kind of waterproof camera?

Answer: It seems that the waterproof camera that really delivers quality images is the Canon D10. It looks really cool, one giant cyclops’ eye of a flash. But the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1 is quite impressive as well.

Question: Is there such thing as a waterproof camera case?
Like one that I can trust to put my digital camera underwater and take pictures?

Answer: Most digital camera have their own or recommends a third party underwater case. Depending on the make, model, size of your digital camera and depth you are going down to, my suggestion is to first go to the manufacturer’s website and check out the accessories. Otherwise, you can select either a solid, hard underwater camera casing or a soft zip-lock type version. Of course, the hard body/cases are more expensive than the zip-lock versions.

If you are only going to water parks and or vacationing and going to pools and about 10 feet deep, I suggest the zip-lock versions by DryPak, DiCaPac or AquaPac or any similar manufacturer. For scuba diving, I suggest hard bodies which also works for more expensive DSLR cameras. Please take note that water pressure (depth you go down to) also needs to be factored in. Most camera’s shutter release button will react to water pressure in a given depth.

Question: What is a good underwater camera for under $175?
I am looking for a good waterproof digital camera 9+ mega pixels that is fairly durable and can go at least 10ft down. I want to use it to go snorkeling and other miscellaneous underwater activities. Also I do like to customize my pictures a little bit.

Answer: Both a friend of mine and I have Olympus. Hers is a bit different than mine but mine is the Stylus 1030W and I couldn’t be happier with it! It’s Waterproof up to 33ft. Shockproof, Freeze proof and 10.1MP but I think Olympus came out with one that’s a little better and more expensive. I have had mine for over a year and have dropped it many times and its a champ! I can’t remember how much it was. I think around $175 but I know if you get it on ebay it will be cheaper with a bunch of extras and can get a warranty (I did). And you can customize a bit to (back&white, Shopia, Frames, Red eye, Crop, label etc…)

Question: Have you ever used a underwater camera case? do they reduce picture quality?

Answer: I’m a scuba diver and I have proper rigid underwater housings for both my DSLR and compact cameras. I haven’t used these ‘plastic bag’ types before, but there’s no reason why they should affect image quality underwater – plenty of other things will. Make sure you don’t go deeper than the recommended depth with it or you’ll flood the camera and get close to your subject. Turn off the flash unless you are very close and the water is very clear otherwise you will get backscatter (white dots) over your image from the flash.

When you are out of the water, if there are water drops on the front of the case over the lens area you’ll get blurred areas in your image, so try to dry it off with a soft cloth. Avoid getting sand/grit on the lens area part of the pouch. Rinse it well in freshwater after use.

Question: What is the best camera to use in an harsh environment like the amazon forest?
Waterproof, dust proof, solid, versatile camera brand.

Answer: Olympus is the most durable. Second up is Nikon although you sacrifice waterproof. While Canon has great point n shoots their SLR’s were “NOT” made to be dragged through hell and water, Canon’s definition of durable is sports. A 5D can be hit with a baseball going 102mph and be fine but you put it in a damp environment… Get an Olympus.

Question: Which water proof digital camera is better?
I’m trying to decide which of these two waterproof digital cameras to pick from. I can’t afford more then $200 on one so if you know another one that’s better then these two under $200 please let me know. I’m between the olympus x560 or the Fujifilm Finepix Z33WP.

Answer: As for the X560 or the Z33WP its really a coin toss. Nothing in the specs makes one particularly stand out above the other and actual reviews are scarce for both. Overall Fuji and Olympus make decent products but like all camera makers they have great, average and lousy models. With the lack of substantial reviews its difficult to say which would be best over the other.

Question: Waterproof digital cameras? Personal likings to any brands?
I want to buy a waterproof digital camera, that is water/shock proof. Any brands that people have tried, and liked? And do all water proof cameras have digital zoom? Do they make any optical zoom digital water-proof cameras?

Answer: The Canon D10 is a very versatile camera. It is small and surprisingly light. The build quality is excellent; the camera is manufactured in Japan. The image quality is typical Canon… realistic colors, little noise, and the camera is fast. I wanted a camera that I could carry and use in inclement weather. Rain or snow, I wanted to be able to take pictures while I am hiking. This camera seems to fit the bill.

Question: Can all cameras have a waterproof case that it can be put in or is it only specific?

Answer: For many models there are dedicated cases with buttons perfectly positioned, but there are many for which there are no such compatible dedicated case. There are some more generic underwater housings that can fit a variety of cameras. Those require pushing the buttons through the clear, soft plastic, and are less user friendly than the dedicated cases.

Review Troubleshooting and Repair Options For Your Polaroid Digital Camera and Its Accessories

If your camera is not properly working, you will need to troubleshoot and repair it. Before doing anything though, lay out your options. Review each of those options to know which one is the best to take. This article will guide you on what you should do when troubleshooting and repairing your Polaroid digital camera.

Reading the manual is highly recommended. This applies to other items on sale as well and not just to polaroid cameras. It pays to read through the instructional guide as it will let you know how to properly and effectively use the device. That way, when troubleshooting concerns come up, you would have an idea if there’s a possible solution inside the manual and where it is located, saving you some time and energy.

Many just buy a camera and directly use it. There are various reasons behind that. One is that they simply dislike reading. Others reason out that they don’t have the time to do so. Some just find the details too complicated to understand and prefer to ask a friend or someone else they know or just learn it by themselves. Whatever their reason is, do not be misguided as it would still be helpful if you read the manual after you have bought the device and before you start using it.

If you want, you can call customer support, if it is available, to help you with your Polaroid digital camera and address to the staff your technical question and troubleshooting concern, no matter how small or big it is. Asking help online through forums and blogs and sending an email to the company with your questions are the other things that you can do. Even with a refurbished product, you should consider doing those.

There are some local retailers and stores to where you can ask some help too. Apart from great deals and discount rates that they can offer for cameras and accessories such as the wrist strap, charger, battery and compact case, they could be offering repair services as well. If they don’t offer such service, they might know some repair centers that you can go to and may have a detailed comparison of those centers in terms of pricing and quality of service.

In conclusion, there is always a possibility for a Polaroid camera, or any camera for that matter, be it an underwater type or not to be damaged. In some cases, cameras get some cracks especially if the owner has the habit of having both his binoculars and cameras strapped around his neck while on a vacation or a trip. For the camera to be at its best again, those damages must be repaired. The options and tips given here should be able to help you make that repair effective.

Polaroid Digital Camera FAQ:

Question: How Many Pictures Can i531 Polaroid Digital Camera Hold without a Memory Card?

Answer: That would depend on the resolution. Your display should tell you how many pictures you have taken and how many more you can take with the camera set at any resolution. At the highest resolution you might get only 2 or 3. At the lowest you could get over 20. Each picture is a little different depending on the picture content.

Question: Do I need a install disk for a polaroid digital camera?
I got a polaroid digital camera off of a friend and it came with no disk! I don’t even know if it needs one. If so where can I go to get the install disk.

Answer: If your camera uses memory cards a disc is not necessary to get your photos onto the computer. If it uses memory cards, simply use the USB cable (if supplied) or a card reader that accepts the card.

It may need a driver if the images are saved internally. If this is the case, try to find your camera model and download the necessary drivers. Typically, the discs include drivers and some simple editing/viewing/organizing tools. It’s difficult when you don’t specify the model.

Question: Where can I buy a polaroid digital camera?
I live in vancouver canada and I want to know where I can buy a polaroid camera. The new ones.

Answer: You mean the ones that print? They look pretty cool! I was looking at a bunch of them on ebay, amazon, and on polaroid.com.

Question: Anyone have this problem with Polaroid Digital Camera?
I have a Polaroid i531 digital camera. Lately I have noticed that once I power off my camera, I am no longer able to view pictures that I had taken.Instead, I get a black screen that says “no image.” I’ve made sure my memory card is placed securely in it’s place. When I place the memory card into my computer, I am able to view the pictures, but not from the camera itself. Any ideas?

Answer: It seems as though the camera is getting faulty. At least you can get your pictures off the card for now. If under warranty I would contact a service centre and make a claim. It was a really cheap camera so no point paying to repair it if it’s not under warranty. You can just purchase a new one.

Question: Which one is better polaroid or digital camera?
I was planning to buy an instax mini by fujifilm, a polaroid camera, but my mum thought the films are a bit costly and I don’t mind buying a digital cam instead. But out of interest which one is more efficient because I could find some on ebay for about half price (films). I’m on a tight budget.

Answer: Support for polaroid cameras is almost non-existent since they stopped producing new instant photo cameras a year or two back, which will make finding new film increasingly difficult down the line. A digital camera is by far the better option.

Question: My Polaroid digital camera i834 only takes blurry pictures, how do I fix this?
I have had this camera for less than a year, and it always takes blurry pictures. I have lost the manual and guide, so I don’t know if there is anyway to fix this problem. Is there any settings on the camera that will make it take clearer pictures?

Answer: You can download the manual from the polaroid website.

If it’s blurry even when you use flash with the subject about 6 feet away then make sure that the macro setting isn’t on. If it is there will be an icon of a flower at the top of the screen.

Question: Can a polaroid digital camera hook up to a mac laptop?

Answer: It will, of course. Any digital camera will connect to a Mac or PC.

Question: How do you take off the timestamp off of the Polaroid i735 digital camera?
I am taking pictures and the date and time keep showing up on the corner of my pic when I look at it on the camera!

Answer: Go to the camera Menu, Find “Camera setup/ settings” and find something to do with “Timestamp” or “Imprints”

Polaroid Camera FAQ:

Question: What type of battery does a Polaroid Reporter camera use?
I am thinking of getting new Polaroid camera, one that uses packfilm instead of the discontinued 600 integral film. Before I buy a Reporter, however, I want to make sure that I can still get a battery for it.

Answer: The Reporter model uses 2 AA batteries, and they’re put on the inside of the camera near the lens. And no, the FP-100C and the Type 669 film it is replacement does not have the battery in the film.

I think you’ll be happy with the Reporter. It’s not quite as bulky as the Land Cameras. I know it’s one of the main Polaroids that I use for emulsion lifts now.

Question: Can I reload polaroid film into another camera?
I bought a polaroid camera off of ebay, and some film. The film is a few months expired, but I heard it still works but just shows up weird or something. Anyways, the camera works but the film shows up completely blank – so we’re not sure if its the film or the camera. Is it possible to move the film into another camera to see which is broken?

Answer: You could–but the sheet on the top will be exposed to light, and it will be ruined. However, once the package is inserted into the camera, the first sheet is ejected anyway. Furthermore, light may leak around the edges, so the whole pack might as well be thrown away.

Lastly, “blank” doesn’t mean much. Unexpired film–brown is undeveloped. White means overexposed and black means underexposed.

Question: Question on old Polaroid films that have been left in the camera?
What I understand is Polaroid camera uses power from the battery that comes in the same pack of film. I have left a pack of film in the camera for one year without using it. I found out that there is no power left, however there are still some film left in there. Is there a way I can still use those films? They cost almost a dollar each.

Answer: They will be faded or the chemicals could have broken down. Might try new batteries for the camera and see what happens. Sold my polaroid because digital was so much easer and cheaper.

Question: Are there different kinds of polaroid camera film?
I just bought a polaroid camera off ebay and the picture quality is very bad, it has a brown sepia effect over it. Could this be the film or the camera?

Answer: It is probably just some very old film. Polaroid film cannot keep too long, because it wasn’t like photo films. Photo Films use Developer, Bleach, Fixer and Water so that it’s more lasting then Polaroid film.

Question: Where can I get a polaroid camera?
I’ve been looking on many websites, but the closest they have are the sheets for polaroids and that weird pogo thing that you can print pictures from your mobile with. I just want a good-old, well functioning, print straight there, big as you please polaroid camera, no hassle that I can go directly to the shop and buy. I don’t need anything fancy or new. Just simple enough to take a print decent quality pictures.

Answer: I would try amazon or ebay, however finding film will be your biggest problem as they have stopped making it.

Question: What are some uses for a polaroid camera?
I’m a teenager interested in modeling and photography and I know I could use a polaroid (instant camera) for those things but what else can I use it for, like storage solutions (labeling boxes), etc?

Answer: You could make a collage of yourself or you could use them to document a party. The harshness of the flash is becoming a popular way to shoot now a days.

Question: How much is film for a polaroid camera?
I’m looking at buying one on ebay but worried that the film will be the expensive part after a couple of rolls.

Answer: Considering that polaroid no longer makes film and you have to buy it off of ebay I’d say it’d be pretty darn expensive, if you can get it at all. If you want instant film go with a Fuji camera. At least you can buy the stuff. And its expensive.

Question: Does anyone know where I can buy polaroid film for an old instant camera polaroid?
My mother just bought me a 90’s Polaroid camera from a thrift shop. I know that they still make the film for it because my friend has the same camera, but the place that she told me to go didn’t have it. So does anyone know where I can buy some film?

Answer: This film probably costs more than your mother paid for the camera! You can find it in stores like Walgreens or you can save a few bucks by buying in bulk on amazon. For the price you’ll pay for film, my personal suggestion is to check out the new polaroid PoGo…it’s a DIGITAL instant polaroid camera…it’s pretty cool.

Polaroid Camera FAQ:

Question: What specific Polaroid Camera would take Polaroid 669 Film?
I know that Polaroid has/is in the process of discontinuing their film but I am just curious as to what camera would work the Polaroid 669 instant color film?

Answer: While Polaroid is stopping manufacture of the 3-1/4 x 4-1/4 packfilms like 669, Fujifilm has licensed the technology and will still be making their own version of packfilm that will work in any Polaroid packfilm camera.

Question: Does the Polaroid camera Sun 660 autofocus land camera needs batteries?

Answer: No you don’t need a battery. These days polaroid instant film has the battery in the film. That’s probably why it cost so much.

Question: What is the best vintage Polaroid camera?
I’m looking for a polaroid camera, not the new kinds but the older ones that give beautiful effects, and also ones which you can buy film for still obviously!

Answer: My understanding is that the LAND series, the non-folding ones, give the most interesting pictures and most options for film (the newer Sx-70 model only takes one film type). I have been told to look out for a model with a switch for ISO 70/3000 and also to check battery compartment for any damage. Non folding types were considered entry level so should be cheap to pick up.

Question: Camera that is similar to the Polaroid Square Shooter?
I love the fact the the Polaroid square shooter develops on actual film type paper but the film for it is discontinued and very hard to find and expensive when you do find it. Does anyone know any other types of instant cameras that have the same idea as this one but are perhaps more relevant today? Meaning a cool camera that I can still find film for. I don’t mind if its a newer novelty type of camera. I just want instant pictures with that polaroid feel but not a regular polaroid camera.

Answer: Any of the plastic body cameras that use Polaroid Packfilm will suit you. Polaroid has gotten out of the film business at the end of the year, but Fujifilm has licensed the technology and is selling film that will still work in these cameras. From the Land List, these cameras can use the Fuji Packfilms:

All plastic Body:
Big Swinger, Colorpack II, Colorpack III, BigShot, Colorpack IV,Colorpack M6, Colorpack V, Minutemaker, Minutemaker Plus, Super Colorpack, Super Shooter.

You are more likely to find the cheaper plastic body cameras at the thrift stores.

Question: Does the polaroid camera spectra have a separate charger for it although it is charged by the film?
Since all the films I can find has expired in 2005-2008 I’m very worried about the battery quality within the film because without it, it will not work. Is there such a thing as a separate charger for this type of Polaroid camera? If so, what is it called and where can I find it?

Answer: The film contains the battery not the camera so, no.

Question: How do I crop photos with my pink polaroid camera?
I just bought a pink polaroid digital camera and with my other camera (hp) I downloaded this software where I could crop my photos and I don’t know how to on here. Also do you know if I can use different color shades with this camera like black and white or sepia?

Answer: Well I don’t think you can do that on a camera. But there are several programs, even paint, on the computer where if you download the pictures onto your computer you can crop pictures to any size that you want.

Question: What would you consider the best polaroid camera is?
Just the classic instant polaroid camera with the individual pictures that come right out of the camera after you take the picture. I want to buy one because the old one I had broke and I crave polaroid.

Answer: If you want the kind that spits out the photo automatically, then essentially, you’re looking at a Polaroid 600-type camera or the Polaroid Spectra cameras.

For the best color and performance, the Polaroid Spectra is the better choice over the 600. If you want colors that are a little off, try any Polaroid 600 camera while you can still get them at Wal-marts and Targets. Usually for about $30.

However, if I had to pick the best polaroids, they would be the “peel-apart” pack film cameras which require the photographer to pull the print and developing layers out of the camera manually. Look for a Polaroid 600SE (not to be confused with the 600-type cameras) for a pro-level Polaroid.

Question: Why is my polaroid camera making peoples faces yellow in photos?
I have a Polaroid Image Mail, passport taking camera, which now has a problem, as when I print off pictures the peoples faces are turning out yellow. Any ideas how to fix this?

Answer: It’s usually because of old chemicals. Buy a new pack of consumables and try again.

Polaroid photos themselves have a little bit of yellow tone in them and now this is getting highlighted due to slight change in chemical composition.

Underwater Camera FAQ:

Question: LumixDMC-ZS3 or Canon d10 underwater digital camera?
I think I want to get the LumixDMC-ZS3, but I am also considering the underwater canon digital camera. I think I like the LumixDMC-ZS3 as a camera better though, is there an underwater case that I can put it in? The canon seems so bulky and it doesn’t have an amazing zoom like the LumixDMC-ZS3. Which is more worth it?

Answer: Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 is a good camera but not a real waterproof/underwater camera, but you can buy a Underwater housing camera case for panasonic lumix DMC-ZS3 (now underwater housing camera case for panasonic lumix DMC-ZS3 is difficult to find) or you can select a real waterproof/underwater camera. Other good waterproof/underwater cameras to consider are: the Canon PowerShot D10, Olympus Stylus Tough-6000 and Pentax Optio W60.

Question: Can an Olympus x-560WP Compact Digital waterproof camera be used underwater?
I know this sounds like a stupid question, it has waterproof in the description. I was just wondering if anyone knew how deep it could go or would that mean that the camera is just splash proof?

Answer: You can go down to 10 feet. Any deeper than that and the pressure is too high and will push through the seal.

Question: Underwater Digital Camera help?
I want to get an amazing underwater digital camera, I love photography and don’t want to have to worry about the camera getting wet. I also would love it to have as good a zoom and picture quality possible. I really like the Canon Powershot d10, but it is so bulky and I’m scared that if I buy it, a new, better camera will come out.

Answer: I recommend the Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD.

Question: Can you dip the pentax optio 33w camera on water? Can I use it to take picture underwater?
I just bought this old model from a friend. I’m just curious of the “can be submerged in water” description on it and I was hoping that I could take pictures underwater in it (My friend never dared because of fear of breaking it).

Answer: The full name of that camera is a Optio 33WR. The WR meaning water resistant. If it rains it’ll be ok. If it gets dropped in a pool all bets are off. It may survive alright, it may not. Not much different than the case with watches. If it says water resistant you can usually be ok with having it on in the shower but you’re stretching your luck taking it swimming. If it says water proof with a depth rating, then it’s good to just about that depth. The data sheet I found for the optio 33wr doesn’t even mention a depth rating so it’s safe to assume they don’t expect you to take it under as is.

Question: Underwater digital camera?
I want the fujifilm x33 water proof camera. Since it is water proof can it go in a chlorine pool?

Answer: If it says that it is waterproof, not water resistant then yes it can.

Question: Underwater cameras vs. regular cameras.
Do regular cameras take significantly better pictures than underwater cameras because I want an underwater one but at the same time I want a camera that takes good pictures. The underwater camera I was looking at is the Fujifilm Fine Pix.

Answer: This is a waterproof camera and should take just as good pics as a ‘normal’ camera – the lens/sensor etc is all the same. The only difference is that this one has waterproof seals to stop water getting in.

Just a word of warning – this type of camera is ok in a pool (shallow water) but is only waterproof to 3m for a max time of 2 hours. If you push it beyond its limits, it may leak.

Question: Will this protect my camera?
Will an underwater case for my camera protect it from paintball hits? If not, what is a way I can protect my video camera so I can record some games at my field.

Answer: If there is damage from paintball hits, the warranty may not cover the camera. Paint is not water, and hits are not covered because hitting is like abusing it. If the camera or the case is damaged, you may need to go and buy another one, because you were negligent.

You can put it on the top of something where you can see the whole field.

Question: Is The Canon coolpix black 12.1 mega pixel digital camera waterproof?
I’m in Jamaica and was wondering if it can go underwater cause it has an underwater function but I highly doubt it can go all the way under.

Answer: Canon doesn’t make “coolpix”, Nikon makes them. Canon makes “powershot”. Only the Canon Powershot D10 is waterproof. If this is the camera you have it is waterproof to only 10 meters deep. If your unsure then I wouldn’t test it.

How to Choose an Underwater Camera

There are a variety of different cameras that have been specifically designed for use underwater, or in environments where they are likely to get wet. Choosing which one to buy is a matter of considering your requirements, as well as the cost of the different types.

Some disposable cameras can be used in the water. These are very cheap and usually take twenty to thirty photos. Once full, the camera is handed over to be developed and cannot be used again. These camera are usually suitable for use in wet conditions, such as rain, snow or when splashing around at the beach. They can generally cope with being taken underwater to a depth of 20-30 feet, which makes them ideal for a snorkeling or diving trip.

Reusable cameras are also available for underwater use, and they will be a more sensible option for those who often require a waterproof camera. They can usually be taken into more deeper water than their disposable counterparts. Film cameras that are designed for underwater use can be found at quite low prices.

A range of underwater digital camera is also available, with many different models offering various levels of quality and cost. Many have excellent resolutions that will ensure a detailed, high quality photo. They are designed to be simple to use when underwater, and can usually be switched between land and sea modes with a one-button click.

Many cameras offer additional options, such as a range of flash modes specifically tailored for different undersea conditions; each intended for use with different types of subjects at different distances from the photographer. The more advanced users will be able to find cameras that offer a selection of manual controls for resolution, exposure and other settings.

In order to get a true picture of the bright underwater colors found in many dive sites, it is possible to add an external flash to the camera, which will provide much more light than the camera’s inbuilt flash, and can allow the subject to be lit from different angles. Digital cameras have a specific mode for use with a different flash.

When taking photographs underwater it is important to be aware of the differences in the light, as opposed to above water photography. The light grows dimmer with increasing depth, but many cameras will be able to compensate for this automatically by changing the aperture and shutter speed.

Choosing a model with a large, clear picture-viewing screen will make it easier to set up your underwater pictures; although some photographers prefer to use a Sports Finder mounted on top of the camera. If you will be underwater for quite a long time, and need to conserve power, then shutting the screen off may be necessary. Having a large one mounted on top of the camera can make this easier.

Underwater Camera FAQ:

Question: Ice fishing underwater camera vs portable sonar?
What is better an underwater camera or a portable sonar?

Answer: Both would be ideal, use the sonar to locate depth, structure and fish. Once you find the fish use your camera to see what the fish are and to select fish by pulling your bait away from smaller fish and jigging it right in front of the bigger ones.
If you can only have one then get the sonar if you can afford it get both you will get a lot of use out of your sonar and it will increase your success but you will enjoy the camera a lot more once the sonar puts you on the fish.

Question: What good quality underwater video camera should I get?
In need of a good quality, not badly priced water proof video camera that I can use underwater and as a regular video camera. Suggestions would be great.

Answer: Depends on depth. The Olympus Stylus 8000 “Rugged” is a good all-around camera with movie mode. For depths to 10 feet, the Stylus 550 is an economical choice. Since you plan to use this in the water, I suggest you get the optional bouyant strap because otherwise the camera will sink.

Question: What is the BEST underwater camera for Real scuba diving for a pretty cheap price?
I’m going to Hawaii next year and I’m going scuba diving when I’m there. I want to catch that on film, but I want one for cheap.

Answer: The problem with cheap is that you get what you pay for.

The cheapest ‘dive’ housing is little more than a ziplock bag, rated to 5m and completely pointless for diving.

If you already have a semi decent digital camera than you can probably get a housing for it. You can get ‘proper’ dive housings for most well known brands of digital camera, cannon, nikon, fuji, sony etc. They replicate all of the functions and are usually rated to between 10m and 50m with some rated to 100m. The deeper rated camera’s generally have single or dual o-ring protection and are worth the extra over a non o-ring variety. Expect to pay as much if not more for the housing than you did for the camera.

Any depth rating is a static rating, i.e. it is a measure of just the depth that the camera can be taken to and expect to survive without flooding. But if you accidentally knock the housing against something then you can easily exceed the rating and cause it to flood. This is why they tell you to never jump in while holding your camera and to always get someone to hand it to you.

Question: How much would a basic, digital, underwater camera cost?
And where should I look to find one? I’m going on a cruise, and they sell disposable cameras on the ship…but I would like a digital one so I can put the pictures on facebook and myspace

Answer: I would suggest Canon D10. It takes good picture quality for both in and out of the pool. Waterproof to 33 feet, cold resistant from 14-104 degrees (F) and shockproof up to 4 feet. Or another good one Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1. Waterproof to a depth of 10 feet, shockproof from falls up to 5 feet, and dustproof. Good picture quality and also takes HD video.

Will an infrared heat camera work underwater? (given that it is waterproof)

Answer: The camera will work, however, thermal IR energy will not travel through water. Thus, trying to image a whale will not work.

So I have this camera, Canon PowerShot D10 12.1 MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 3x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD. It says its waterproof up to 33 feet. My mother said that I need to buy a case for it to go underwater since I might ruin it. But, I don’t think so because its made to go underwater. But, I don’t want to risk it.

Answer: No, it doesn’t need the underwater housing. It is a “Waterproof” camera.

I have the Panasonic Lumix LX3. I really want to use this camera underwater because of its raw modes and because I love it! But I can’t find underwater housing for it.

Answer: The only place to actually buy a underwater case would be from the manufacturer itself. Go to the panasonic website.

Question: Can this camera take pictures underwater?
I bought the SONY DSC-TX1 for Christmas and I read the instruction manual and there’s settings on the camera that allow you to take pictures underwater. I’m not sure if you can, though because the salesperson where I got it from never mentioned anything about it, and I haven’t tried putting it in water myself for obvious reasons.

Answer: Yes it can but you would need to purchase the Sony Marine Pack to house your camera. The pack is roughly $200. You can go to the Sony site to purchase the Marine Pack.

The Best Digital Cameras For $200 Dollars Or Less

If you are in the market for a digital camera on a budget, there are several cameras available which are both high quality and affordable. The top three, while similar, each have special features that separate them from others in their class.

One such camera is the Canon PowerShot A3100 IS. This pocket sized, 12.1 MP camera, features a 4x optical zoom with image stabilization, and 2.7 inch LCD viewing panel. Available in multiple designer colors, the camera also comes with a completely rechargeable lithium-ion battery, making it not only more cost effective than many of its competitors, but also more lightweight. It has 18 custom picture settings, and is SD card compatible for expandable memory.

Sony offers a similar product in its Cybershot DSC-W220. A slightly less compact camera than cannons power shot, this is also a 12.1 MP camera, featuring a 4x optical zoom with image stabilization. Its use of Bionz image processor technology guarantees minimal shutter time, increasing your likely hood of capturing the most precious, and most fleeting moments, and insuring the highest quality action shots. The camera also features face detection software, and has a 15MB onboard memory. Should you wish to expand this memory, it is Memory Stick Duo compatible.

Finally, one cannot discuss the cameras of this class without making mention of the Nikon Coolpix S570. The most compact of this lists top three, the Nikon is a 12 MP camera with a 5x wide angle optical zoom glass lens, and vibration reduction technology. It features both a movie mode, and Smart portrait technologies. Like the cannon, it has both a 2.7 inch viewing screen, and is SD card compatible for the instillation of additional memory.

Pictures from any of these options could be expanded to a 16 x 20 inch poster print without visible distortion. They are the best of their class, and are all available for $200 dollars or less. The most important thing to remember when selecting a camera is to look at the specific features it has to offer, and buy the model most suited to your individual interests and needs.

My top pick is the Canon PowerShot A3100IS. Grab this pocket sized, 12.1 MP camera, featuring a 4x optical zoom and image stabilization today, it offers everything you need for under $200.

Digital Cameras FAQ:

Question: What make of digital camera do you recommend?
I want to buy a digital camera. I don’t want anything too expensive and I don’t really need more than 10 mega pixels but if you know a reasonably priced camera with more than 10 please suggest. I want a camera with a rechargeable battery. I also want a camera with a fairly large screen (no less than 2″). Please can you suggest a good camera.

Answer: I do not know what is your price range, so I will suggest a few options.

Recommendations:

Canon PowerShot SD1200 IS (estimated cost $150)

Canon PowerShot A480 (estimated cost $99)

Question: What is the best digital camera for previewing pictures from Bushnell Trophy Cam trail camera?
The Bushnell Trophy cam uses SD cards, and so does my camera. My camera also has a preview screen. I want to use a digital camera to view the pictures taken by the Bushnell Trophy cam, but they don’t see it. Is there a digital camera that will work?

Answer: No. Each brand of camera has it’s own file structure. Nobody but Bushnell cares where Bushnell puts it photos. Depending on the control in your camera, you *may* be able to point it to a different directory on the SD card. Not all cams will let you do this, and even if they do, they may not like the Bushnell shots anyway.

Question: What digital camera offers the highest picture quality?
I love digital arts and graphic design and I’m looking for a camera that takes pictures with higher resolution so I can more easily edit them on PhotoShop, Gimp, etc. I’m not quite sure where or how to start looking. I wouldn’t want to spend more than $700, though.

Answer: You certainly should invest in a DSLR camera. It is an investment but it can be well worth it. DSLR cameras have the larger sensor so you get a higher quality image. You can change lenses which can be valuable, by allowing to adjust to different needs.

There are a number of good brands so don’t be sold on the idea one brand is better than another. I would keep your costs down. I would get a DSLR with a short zoom (like a 18-55mm) to start. No reason to spend more than $425 to $550. Either a 10MP or 12MP (MP means mega pixel) will do just fine.

Pick a price range, some features you know you want, and even consider which camera feels good in your hand as a factor. Plenty of great cameras, get one you like and start learning the principles of photography and you will be on your way to making some great images.

Question: What should I look for in a digital camera?
My friend is looking into getting a digital camera and he asked me to help him out. What are the main things to look for in the digital camera in order to make the best/most informative decision? (I know about megapixels, but I’m not too sure about the rest)

Answer: For me in choosing a point and shoot, the bottom line has to be image quality. Then camera has to have image stabilizer, aperture/shutter priority, a viewfinder and very good on battery life. If I didn’t own a DSLR, lots of zoom would be very important.

Question: What would be a good professional-quality digital camera to find online?
I am looking to spend around $400-600 on a nice high-quality digital camera. People have told me Nikon makes a quality camera for the money. I am just looking to take some professional quality pictures of my children.

Answer: If you want to go with Nikon, the Nikon D40 is a very good camera for the price. It’s a very compact camera, and easy to operate.

Getting professional quality pictures isn’t as easy as people think it is. The camera doesn’t do all the work (unless it’s on full auto mode) – in fact, you should be doing most of the work if you really want professional looking pictures. To get really nice, quality pictures, you need to know at least the basics of exposure.

Question: Can I retrieve pictures that were deleted from a digital camera if there was a memory stick in the camera?
Its a sony digital camera and I pressed the delete button and it deleted from the camera and memory stick. Just wandering if I can pull those pics back up somehow.

Answer: Most users of P&S cameras never use the internal memory and place all their images on their memory card.

Since you deleted all your images, you will 1) have to stop using that card any more and use a different card and 2) use an image recovery program like Lexar’s Rescue3 to try to recover all the image files on the card.

When you have recovered the images and copied them to your computer, remember to format the old card using the format feature on the camera … to this after each time you transfer image files from our memory card to your computer. This above all will prevent corruption of memory cards. Never use you computer to format memory cards.

Question: Is there a certain printer for the nikon digital camera?
I just bought a nikon s70 touch screen digital camera and I want to buy a printer for it, is there a specific printer I need for it and if so what’s it called?

Answer: Any printer that can print photo quality prints and uses archival ink. Epson and HP make such printers. There are also dye-sub printers make that can produce excellent photo prints.

Question: How do you use the webcam feature on a Polaroid i633 digital camera?
I have a Mac OS and I wanted to know if anyone can give me a step-by-step process in how to use this feature. I don’t have the box it came in. I was just given the camera.

Answer: This camera does not have a “web-cam” feature according Polaroid. The ability to use a compact digital camera as a web-cam is quite rare, and where it does exist is often a little cumbersome. Sorry I can’t help you any further.
